Government insured patients
The treatment of adults is not usually covered by the government health insurance companies, unless it is a serious jaw malposition, which must be corrected by jaw surgery, or there is clearly a temporomandibular joint problem causing a bad tooth position which can be corrected.
Even if the health insurance company takes over the medical costs, the patient must carry the first 20% of the costs, which is refunded after a successful conclusion. Specific treatments, such as almost invisible brackets, a detailed functional analysis of the temporomandibular joint, wires from special materials and surface sealing with fluoride are not covered by the health insurance company. These extra-contractual treatments must be paid for privately.
Privately Insured Patients
If you are privately insured, it depends on your insurance contract whether medical costs and how much of them is taken over by your private health insurance.
Taxes
Please remember that an orthodontic treatment can be indicated as an extraordinary expense on the income tax return. An orthodontic treatment will quickly exceed the so-called free allowance and the costs can then become valid for taxation.
When must I pay?
The normal way is always at the end of the accounting quarter for the parts of the treatment finished by the end of this period.
There is also the possibility of financing
