Patients with primary snoring, an easy to middling form of obstructive sleep apnoea or with a CPAP incompatibility can get a custom adjustable oral appliance as an alternative that is worn while sleeping. The appliance holds the lower jaw forward, preventing the tongue and the soft tissue of the throat from collapsing into the airway.
The model most frequently used in our practice is the TAP-T protrusion splint from Scheu. This appliance makes opening and closing the mouth comfortable, as well as allowing an easy lateral movement.
