Legally insured patients
The treatment is taken over by the legal health insurance companies when a certain degree of difficulty is present. The organization of the degrees of difficulty is clearly given by the legislator (KIG, orthodontical indication catalogue) and decides on a subsidy of medical costs. The determination of the degree of difficulty takes place at the first appointment.
Even if the health insurance company takes over medical costs, you must firstly bear a portion of 20% of the costs which is refunded after a successful conclusion. Aid-entitled patients get the majority of the costs refunded, however, it can be that individual sections of a treatment plan are not covered. Therefore, privately insured patients receive the treatment plan in duplicate, in order to be able to submit one copy for all the costs to be evaluated and repaid.
Tax
Please remember that an orthodontic treatment can be indicated as an unusual charge on the income tax return. An orthodontic treatment will quickly exceed the so-called free allowance and the costs can then be valid for taxation.
When must I pay?
The normal way is always at the end of the accounting quarter for the parts of the treatment finished by the end of this period?
